The topic that I chose to argue about is the relationship between diet and it's effect on our environment. My research question was how does an omnivorous diet affect the environment? The conclusion that I have come to is that the omnivorous diet has negative effects on the environment. Because of the increased demand for animal products, factory farming has become more prominent. With the use of family farming increasing, greenhouse gases and other harmful factors now affect the environment.

I chose this topic specifically because I am vegan myself. This means that I don't consume any animal products. I don't eat meat or anything that came from an animal. This includes eggs, milk, and honey. There are people who think that veganism is only about animal rights, however, despite what your opinions may be on animal rights the effect that eating meat has on the environment is not sustainable.

In Gerard Jones's essay, Violent Media is Good for Kids , he makes a claim that justifies the benefits of violent media in children's lives. Jones clearly agrees that violent media (movies, comic books, etc.) is helpful to children. He claims that these stories help children cope with their early stages of life. In the second paragraph, Jones states that comics "  were good for me because they were juvenile. And violent."                                                Diet and the Environment “Fish are friends, not food”, everyone knows this famous line from the classic movie Finding Nemo. So if fish are friends and not food what makes farm animals any different. Farm animals don’t deserve to be housed in cages to later on be slaughtered, but aside from the obvious immoral aspect of it all, the food we are consuming is affecting our environment. All the burgers, steaks, and bacon we are eating is slowing destroying our planet, it only takes 2,500 gallons of water to produce one pound of beef. One pound of beef only gets you a quarter pounder at Mcdonalds, but yet it takes 2,500 gallons of water to produce that one meal.  Imagine what we could do with 2,500 gallons of water if that one pound of beef it took to produce your big mac wasn’t produced or consumed.
